Job summary
This role will build upon and manage Amazon’s Trade initiatives in India. As a Sr. Trade Compliance PM, you will be responsible for import and export compliance for the products Amazon imports/exports across the globe. For new initiatives, you will provide the business with critical SME knowledge and analysis on topics, including new regulations, classification, valuation, ad-hoc destination regulatory changes, partner government agency (PGA) implications, export incentive schemes, import incentives, cost-savings initiatives, FTAs, etc., on a global scale. To maintain compliance in line with growth in the long term, you will provide training, and create and implement scalable processes with business stakeholders. In executing this role, you will work directly with business teams, internal Legal department, Logistics, Supply Chain, Tax, Transfer Pricing, Finance, Procurement teams, and a variety of external Amazon partners and regulators. You will also work closely with all of Amazon’s global and talented trade teams for new trade and expansions initiatives based on business needs from time to time.

We are looking for someone who can:
• Provide detailed subject matter expertise on end-to-end requirements from identification of trade regulations in India including SCOMET, FEMA, CAAR, ECCN/HSN classification, managing regulatory contacts, and other matters of trade compliance.
• Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTA), Generalized System of Preference (GSP) etc.
• In case of new global initiatives, perform research on trade risks and opportunities, and summarize findings and recommendations for business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Amazon’s regional trade teams regularly to execute new product and country expansions initiatives.
• Monitoring import tax updates of different countries (budget and finance bills) for ensuring timely communication to stakeholders & preventing potential risk associated with the cross border trade.
• Monitoring import compliance space (regulatory restrictions on categories, certifications, and scrutiny at Customs).
• Engaging with customs brokers and carriers for managing trade compliance related queries and providing efficient and swift resolutions.
• Manage robust engagement with internal support-function teams to ensure efficient compliance, audit, communication and operation mechanisms for the program.
• Effectively lead large cross-functional projects, with a focus on efficiency & scalability.
• Define and report on key performance and compliance metrics to multiple teams along with local & regional trade teams.
• Provide effective trade compliance training and public policy updates to stakeholders.
• Respond to official government inquiries, escalations or audits in liaison with internal legal team.
• Updating internal rules based on new regulations or changes in current regulations by partnering with stakeholders
• Auditing the processes and activities supported by operations arm of the team and provide regular updates and feedback around business expectations and near-future business initiatives.
• Process standardization by revisiting SOPs relating to the cross-border trade processes in global market.
• SQL/Macros knowledge would be a plus but not mandatory.
• Travel when required for business needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
10+ years of trade compliance experience in managing import/export compliance
Knowledge of import and export compliance requirements
Ability to accurately identify compliance gaps, perform research, and accurately communicate findings and recommendations in written analysis
Strong project management and verbal communication skills
Ability to create and utilize metrics and reporting to define program health and progress
Sound judgement in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter and independent thinker

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in managing import/export compliance in an E-Commerce set-up.
Advanced compliance training, Masters or Law degree is a plus, but is not required
Experience & proven track-record in identifying, creating and driving strategic initiatives for the organizations
