Alexa Customer Journeys team is looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer in the mission to make Alexa an expert on itself, providing useful information and experiences to customers seeking to take advantage of all of their devices’ features and capabilities.

You will be building solutions and systems working with Large Language Model (LLM) and other generative technologies. You will be working with an interdisciplinary team of Software Development Engineers, Data Scientists and Quality Assurance Engineers, and working with Product Managers to design customer-facing experiences with Alexa, and building solutions to make Alexa an expert in itself. As the Sr. SDE in the team, you can have a huge impact on everything from the functionality we deliver for our customers, to the architecture of our systems, to the algorithms we employ, to the culture we build.

Key job responsibilities
We are a growing multi-disciplinary team addressing everyday customer needs through a combination of software engineering, web development and applied research. We are looking for a Sr. software engineer to lead system design, drive a high technical standard, mentor junior engineers, influence and drive along with Product and SDM on team product and technical vision.

– Provide system-wide view and design guidance, and drive engineering best practices and set standards for other engineers in the team
– Work with product management and cross-functional teams to build and ship technical solutions for the best customer experiences
– Break down complex software project into parallel work that can be performed by you and other SDEs and then reassembled successfully into a cohesive launch
– Participate in the hiring process as well as mentor others – improving their skills, their knowledge of your software, and their ability to get things done.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
– 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
