The Prime Technology team has been engaged in evolving the technology services for geographic expansion as well as building new core services in line with the new program launches. Prime team has embarked on a multi-year business roadmap with a clear vision to scale the technology for providing diverse business offerings to its customers. The enterprise problems are highly ambiguous, collaborative and complex. The architecture and solution for these need to be designed & developed considering varying use cases across various membership programs in Amazon and not limited to only Prime programs.

The Prime program is experiencing both horizontal (multiple membership variants for different life stages of customer) as well as vertical growth (multiple countries) and it provides new challenges and opportunities for technology team to evolve the platform to support this growth. The Prime technology team in Bangalore is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers and tech leaders to attain this growth. The ideal candidate is expected to deliver technology solutions and will be expected to dive-deep with team on technical design & business features to develop the right solution. The leader should be a critical thinker, collaborate with Sr leadership to compose strategic and visionary roadmaps, manage complex delivery execution needs in most dynamic environment.

Engineering leader with 7+ years experience who is able to think strategic, deliver programs of high quality that is highly scalable with limited guidance.

Collaborate with software developers and managers to architect and develop the best technical designs, architectures and implementations.

Innovate and solve highly ambiguous problems by driving the teams to deliver simplified solution.

Develop monthly, quarterly and yearly strategy and roadmaps for the team based on project priorities and project benefit.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

Work with Product and Program Managers to develop and evolve the vision and strategy for the team.

Use Agile principles to run the development lifecycle for team’s applications and services.

Manage, execute and communicate project plans and delivery commitments.

Lead with empathy. Staff, mentor, grow people while evolving the charter into best-of-class software development team.

About the team
The team manages the foundation tech stack serving World wide Prime membership management. All key strategic initiatives related to retail and subscription management is enabled through the foundation stack and enabled for Amazon. The team has charter roadmap to evolve the stack to enable strategic needs of subscription programs across Amazon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 7+ years of engineering experience
– 3+ years of engineering team management experience
– 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
– Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
– Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
– Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
