Amazon

  • Full Time

DESCRIPTION

Job summary
Amazon employs more than 1.6 million people worldwide, up 24% year-over-year. There are other fast-growing companies, some even faster. But in all of history, no company this big has ever grown this fast. As the engineering org responsible for building systems that help ensure all Amazonians are paid on time and accurately, we are asked to solve for challenges that no other company faces.

Also, we’re Amazonian. Our customers in Payroll expect us to innovate for them. Name another company building Anytime Pay, which we built to allow employees to withdraw pay as soon as they’ve earned it, prior to payday. Name another company using machine learning to ensure that employees are paid accurately. We really are having fun and making history in an area that – let’s face it – is probably pretty boring at other companies.

In this role, you will lead a team in building tools to improve the global payroll process and payroll data management across all countries where Amazon pays employees. While our current systems involve machine learning, analytics, business process management, data management, reconciliation, and compliance, we are looking for a visionary leader to come in and understand the current business processes and objectives and develop the next round of ideas to solve problems that we do not yet know that we have.

You will work with other Amazon business and engineering teams in planning, designing, building, and supporting systems. Your primary responsibilities will include developing a team of engineers, managing the team’s devops processes, defining and publishing the team’s charter and vision, managing priorities across groups of customers, goal-setting, and roadmap management.

The ideal candidate for this role will be technically strong and able to dive deep, particularly with AWS, and have prior experience managing customer-facing teams. They will also have experience in the HR/Payroll/Finance domains and will have excellent verbal and written communication appropriate to engage with all levels at Amazon. Lastly, they will be a great leader who takes pride in and genuinely enjoys hiring, developing, mentoring, motivating, and retaining the best engineers.
