Amazon Finance Automation is seeking an experienced engineering leader who will lead the technical design, development and production operations of a global financial system that serves Amazon Finance worldwide. Your leadership will operate and evolve a set of services that are at the core of financial transactions between customers and vendors and Amazon business units like AWS. A strong candidate will have experience with designing, building and operating secure, distributed systems that operate globally.

This is a great opportunity to grow yourself to the next level by learning to scale a key in-production system through AWS. You be responsible for the architecture, redesign, upgrades and Java based micro-services that will provide availability and latency guarantees. Finally, you will lead a team of expert engineers, and will raise the engineering bar by hiring, growing and mentoring engineers.

Key job responsibilities

Engage stakeholders, prioritize delivery, and drive customer goals through engineering delivery.
Lead engineering deliverables aimed at improving the Finance user experience.
Lead scaling initiatives through system redesign and developing micro-services.
Leverage AWS to create and improve system availability and latency.
Improve production system operations by creating and driving operational excellence initiatives.
Hire, mentor and grow engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of relevant engineering experience
3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
Experience in partnering with product and program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years experience managing in-production system operations.
3+ years programming experience with related technologies such as Java, JSON, JavaScript etc.
3+ years experience in application integration using SOA/web services.
3+ years experience in SQL and PL/SQL integrating with relational databases
