The Whole Foods Market (WFM) Data and Analytics Tech Applications Team (DATA) is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Data Engineer (DE) who can work on medium to large, cross-functional strategic initiatives that support WFM strategic goals. Key job responsibilities
WholeFoods DATA team is seeking a Data Engineer with strong analytical, communication, and project management skills to join our team. This role will be a key member of a Data team at WholeFoods Market based in Austin,TX. Working closely with business stakeholders, software development engineers, and Data scientists, you will design, evangelize, and implement state-of-the-art solutions that help us provide a great customer experience. You will work with a complicated data environment, employ the right architecture to handle data, and support various analytics use cases including business reporting, production data pipeline, machine learning, optimization models, statistical models, and simulations.

Key job responsibilities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
· 3+ years of experience in data engineering / business intelligence space
· Strong understanding of ETL concepts and experience building them with large-scale and complex datasets
· Strong data modelling skills with solid knowledge of various industry standards such as dimensional modelling, star schemas etc
· Experience in working in large Data Warehouses and in writing & optimizing SQL working with large data volumes
· Experience with AWS technologies stack including Redshift, RDS, S3, Lambda, RDS, EMR or similar solutions build around Hive/Spark etc
· Experience with scripting for automation (e.g. UNIX Shell scripting & Python)
· Good to have experience with reporting tools like Tableau, Power BI, OBIEE or other BI packages.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Curious, self-motivated & a self-starter with a ‘can do attitude’. Comfortable working in fast paced dynamic environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Proven track record of strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis implications clearly to a wide audience, including senior engineers, and be able to translate business objectives into actionable analyses and contribute to documents.
· Knowledge in using OLAP technologies and BI Analytics.
· Proven problem solving skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills
· Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast paced environment
· Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing and operations
