Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) organization is looking for a passionate, results-oriented Regional WHS Manager supporting our India Reliability & Maintenance Engineering organization (RME).

The successful candidate will lead WHS for India RME and work collaboratively with leadership, site management and partner with cross-functional teams to drive ownership, ensure safe and compliant workplaces consistent with Amazon Global High-Risk Operation (HRO) standards and procedures are effectively deployed across all locations.
You will provide direct support and partner with site management to support all RME technicians (both Amazon and third party) in Customer Fulfillment (CF), Amazon Transportation Services (ATS), and Delivery Services (DS). This role is responsible for partnering with technical subject matter experts (SMEs) within WW HRO team, contractor risk management (CRM), WHS ops, and other functions e.g. Operations, Ops Engineering, Suppliers, procurement to continually improve India WHS procedures as they relate to High Risk Operations.

Key job responsibilities
• Partner with RME leadership, site management and WHS teams implement HRO (High-risk operations) programs across Amazon India locations.
• You will be operationally focused, and able to dive deep to identify systemic gaps and deploy practical solutions.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure effective deployment of HRO procedures, risk management and mitigation actions, incident management, inspection and audit, training & communication.
• Support RME site management engage with technicians and third-party partners and encourage active involvement through clearly defined expectations and ownership, with a strong “Bias for action” escalating safety issues, using stop work authority when needed, and support peer review safety programs.
• Use Safety Leadership Index (SLI) to” Dive deep” into site safety engagement and partner with RME site management to identify gaps and drive improvement actions that support overall safety culture.
• Ensure technician safety concerns are captured and promptly addressed or escalated at the site, regional or network level.
• Support Amazon’s Contract Risk Management (CRM) program, ensure site RME teams are executing on contractor onsite management ensure compliance with regulatory and Amazon WHS policy requirements.
• Apply the Amazon Global WHS Risk Assessment methodology to create a country / site risk register to assess effectiveness of current risk controls, identify and prioritize targeted risk mitigation projects, track and communicate progress.
• Invent new ways to raise awareness and capabilities of the RME teams to reach deep understanding of risks and effectively mitigate those risks.
• Establish and support incident investigation, escalation and reporting structures ensuring timely notification and collaboration on root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions implementation.
• Review incidents to determine lessons learnt to share across the network through WHS Alerts or RME Safety Network Actions leveraging site RME / WHS teams to develop content through the WHS Communications process.
• Support the WHS governance and compliance organizations to evaluate regulatory misses for network corrective action related to RME.

A day in the life
The Regional WHS Manager IN RME, supports HRO and CRM program execution and provide technical program management, such as HRO procedures, CRM processes, best practices, training, and network capital projects. The role will own one or more of the RME safety processes, such as Technician Safety Concerns, Technician Safety Week, RME Safety Network Actions (RSNA), RME Technical Safety Teams, Metrics, Hazardous Energy Control, Electrical Safety, Fall Hazard Engineering program.
You will support site management implement WHS programs to encourage engagement, risk reduction; deliver sustainable performance improvements across the locations. You will demonstrate a passion and deep technical knowledge in the field of Reliability & Maintenance Engineering and high-risk operations with expertise in industry best practice safety standards, management system.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in safety or related science, Reliability & Maintenance, Engineering from an accredited university
• Must possess a minimum of 7+ years’ work experience in WHS, maintenance. engineering, quality and/or high-risk operations.
• You are able to interface with site leadership and across the organization.
• Experience in program implementation or managing contractors in the following programs: Fall Hazard Control, Electrical Safe Work, Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO), Conveyors & Machine Safeguarding, Confined Spaces, Hot Work and System Impairment, Fire Protection Systems, PIT / aerial lifts, Cranes, Hoisting & Rigging.
• Diagnose problems, identify and drive appropriate solutions, demonstrate problem solving and analytical capability, acts decisively, promptly and confidently.
• You’ll have highly developed written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, dive deep problem solving, agility to function in a fast paced and innovative environment.
• Able to travel 30% of the time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in a related field
• Have or working towards recognized safety certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, RLI, NEBOSH, or CHMM certification.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (ISO, etc.)
• Experience in deploying & working with online WHS systems. (eg Gensuite).
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
• Experience in technical, standards, or program writing.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certified or equivalent
• Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
