Role: Solution Architect for 4G/5G SDM:
Key Tasks and Activities:
– Develops customer network cloud infrastructure architecture for SDM that will be the
Subscriber Database for 4G and 5G services, based primarily on Kubernetes/VMWare or NCS
cloud platform.
– Develops high level solution design (decompose the requirements into the functional blocks,
defines solution components, external and internal interfaces, responsibilities of the
components, network protocols) as input for overall technical solution.
– Creates solution details including components, external and internal interfaces, responsibilities
of the components, network protocols to be used, component flow charts that includes multi-
vendor environment.
– Keeps in permanent contact with Customer’s stakeholders by means of regular meetings and
workshops.
– Acts as key bridge between backend support and R&D teams and the project delivery team to
identify and manage technical and scope risks.
– Performs technical risk evaluation and plans to mitigate risks of proposed design/solution.
– Evaluates new technologies and sets a direction for future technical capability demands.
– Plan the migration of traffic from existing legacy network to the SDM on cloud infrastructure.
Competences:
– A deep understanding of how SDM is designed for Consumer and Enterprise including full
understanding of 3gpp specifications and IMS use cases and integration with 5G networks
– Practical experience designing and deploying SDM for 4G and 5G networks
– Architectural know how on special HW/SW based tech such as SR IOV, PCI pass-through, DPDK
and accelerators
– End to end architectural know how on following:
o SDM, IMS and VoLTE/ VoNR Architecture
o SDM / IMS / VoLTE/ VoNR use cases and call flows
o End-2-end design for break-out and break-in calls for SDM & IMS VoLTE/ VoNR
o 5G Services Based Architecture
o Security aspects including Defense-in-depth
o Kubernetes, RHEL host OS & Linux components, or NCS / NCOM
o Integration of SDM to legacy voice networks
o VoLTE/VoNR roaming and operator interworking
– Internetworking between cloud infrastructure and container functions via VXLAN GW
– Tenant virtual network implementation stretching across multiple NFVI Data centers
– Security and auxiliary services (VPN, FW, DHCP, DNS etc.) in Kubernetes/VMWare or NCS clouds
