Job summary
Abuse Risk Mining (ARM) Operations (previously Abuse Squad) started in June 2015 with the intention of early identification of abuse patterns MOs (Modus Operandi). The team transitioned to Abuse Risk Mining in September 2016 and is based out of HYD and BLR (starting April 1, 2019) The core job of Abuse Risk Mining Investigations is to help reduce concessions losses, close any gaps in our ML models and supports the Buyer Risk Prevention team to make Amazon the safest and most trusted place on Earth by protecting the innocent and preventing the malicious. Abuse Risk Mining team supports this mission by identifying patterns of risky transactions that are completed on our platform, recommending a solution for the root cause of the miss (system, OPS, or process) and then partnering with stakeholders to implement the solutions. ARM along with Product Analytics team thrives to continuously raise the bar in improving the service standards for our customers, with zero defects, at the lowest cost possible. Abuse Risk Mining Team plays a critical role in reducing bad debt, providing operational insights into bad debt drivers through deep dives and investigations on system and manual misses. We continuously with stakeholders to build trust-based relationships in order to investigate Abuse cases and address escalations while creating long-term, systemic solutions for a world-class Customer experience.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to develop risk mining investigators, refine the existing investigation processes, and build metrics to effectively monitor suspicious abusive activities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in an environment which offers ambiguously defined problems, big challenges, and quick changes. The L4 ARM team manager will be expected to deliver detailed execution and solid cross-functional collaborative results-oriented work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

4+ years’ experience in operations management
2+ years of people management experience.

A Bachelor’s degree · Excellent Communication (both written & verbal) & Leadership Skills · Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a people manager preferably in risk and/or fraud investigations · Ability to dive-deep, proficient in data analysis in Microsoft Excel and more advanced programs such as SQL. · Self-driven & motivated individual with demonstrated ability to proactively drive, manage and grow the team. · Invent & Simplify, have mindset to try and improve. · Ability to concurrently manage multiple initiatives and tasks effectively

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced technical or business degree (MS or MBA) · Six Sigma knowledge or similar models such as Lean are an asset · Experience in a business analyst, data analyst or statistical analysis role, working with large data sets and writing SQL queries to pull data · Proven track record of implementing, delivering large projects and communicating effectively at an executive level. · Experience within Fraud Investigations and/or Financial Risk Management Operations within the Financial Services/ E-Commerce or IT industry. · Experience in seller registration and on-boarding sellers into our marketplace · Experience in managing multi-cultural teams. · Experience in e-commerce / on-line companies in fraud / risk control functions · Coding skills in one of the modern languages Java, Python, Scala, R · Experience with visualization technologies such as Tableau · Experience/knowledge of advanced machine learning techniques such as GBM, random forest, etc. · Compelling communication and influencing skills and participation in winning the support of management and influence the course of major strategic decisions
