JOB DESCRIPTION ? Snowflake Admin

n
Snowflake Administrator responsible for support and maintenance of data lakes, data warehouse and databases.
n
Knowledge of Snowflake Database Engineering.
n
User provisioning and access management (preferably automated)
n
Monitor and manage data platform costs and credit consumption
n
Recommend and develop platform automation
n
Provision, configure, and operate tooling to support Snowflake
n
Create an information architecture for organizing data
n
Manage and maintain proper governance and security
n
Support developers and users needing guidance or troubleshooting
n
Manage monitoring and alerting on Snowflake data platform and tooling
n
Provide routine reporting on pipeline activity and success rates
n
Configure storage locations and security
n
Advise on warehouse sizing and performance
n
Platform connectivity troubleshooting and resolution
n
Setup network connectivity between Snowflake and data source(s)
n
Deployment of DDL and DML statements to PROD
n
Optimize compute with scale out and scale in planning.
n
Implement security, roles, users, and privileges using RBAC model.
n
Implement data pipelines using SnowSQL.
n
Strong DBA administration skills for all DB maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity, and consistency checks, etc.
n
Proactively identify, design, and implement process improvements like automating manual processes, optimizing data flow, increasing scalability etc.
n
knowledge in Snowflake security features including access control, authentication, authorization, encryption, masking, secured views etc.
n
Skilled in relational and dimensional modeling.
n
Experience with Snowflake and its utilities i.e., SnowSQL, SnowCD, Snowpipe etc. ? SQL ? Unix Shell Scripting

Being a custodian of production environment, ensure and perform deployments with validation through established operations gating criteria and checklist.
n
Assess whether best practices are followed for project deployments by reviewing the schema, code etc.
n
Implement best practices to operate a highly performant Snowflake environment.
n
Conduct DB maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity, and consistency checks,
n
Proactively identify, design, and implement process improvements like automating manual processes, optimizing data flow, increasing scalability,
n
Review the Snowpipe ingestion pattern leveraged by projects from an operations acceptance point of view.
n
Participate in Service Transition sessions to take handover from projects to Operations team.

Expertise & Qualification

Knowledge of Snowflake Database Engineering,

DBA background ? SQL/Snowflake/Teradata with 4-5 years of experience

n
The purpose of this role is to provide significant technicalexpertise in architecture planning and design of the concerned tower(platform, database, middleware, backup etc) as well as managing itsday-to-day operations

Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration& installation for new projects in own tower (platform/dbase/middleware/ backup)n

Lead the structural/ architectural design of a platform/middleware/ database/ back up etc. according to various systemrequirements to ensure a highly scalable and extensiblesolution

Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing the currentand future requirements
n
Utilize and leverage the new features of all underlyingtechnologies to ensure smooth functioning of the installed databases andapplications/ platforms, as applicable
n
Strategize & implement disaster recovery plans and createand implement backup and recovery plans
n

Manage the day-to-day operations of the towern
n
Manage day-to-day operations by troubleshooting any issues,conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and developing fixes to avoidsimilar issues.
n
Plan for and manage upgradations, migration, maintenance,backup, installation and configuration functions for own tower
n
Review the technical performance of own tower and deploy ways toimprove efficiency, fine tune performance and reduce performancechallenges
n
Develop shift roster for the team to ensure no disruption in thetower
n
Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operationsmanuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance etc.

Provide weekly status reports to the client leadership team,internal stakeholders on database activities w.r.t. progress, updates,status, and next steps
n
Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plan (SIP)through automation and other initiatives for higher efficiency andeffectiveness
