Job description for IT Business Management professionals

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Business Manager to lead our Client IT department’s strategic and operational initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for aligning IT strategies with business objectives, managing the IT budget, overseeing project delivery, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. This role involves a blend of technical expertise and business acumen, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services and systems.

The IT Business Manager will play a pivotal role in vendor negotiations, resource allocation, risk management, and policy compliance. They will also be tasked with developing and monitoring key performance indicators to measure IT performance, as well as staying updated on new technologies to guide the IT investment roadmap. Leading a team of IT professionals, the manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, while also serving as the primary point of communication between IT and other business units.

This position requires a proactive individual who can manage change, mitigate IT risks, and ensure that IT governance is in line with the organization’s goals. The IT Business Manager will be instrumental in driving the organization forward through the strategic use of technology, making this an exciting opportunity for a leader looking to make a significant impact.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the organization’s business goals and objectives.
Budget Management: Prepare and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial constraints and business priorities.
Project Management: Oversee IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Vendor Management: Negotiate with vendors and service providers to secure the best prices and service levels for IT products and services.
Resource Management: Allocate and manage IT resources, including personnel, hardware, and software, to meet the organization’s needs.
Performance Measurement: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services and systems.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate IT risks related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and business continuity.
Policy and Compliance: Ensure that IT policies, procedures, and practices comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Team Leadership: Lead and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the IT department and other business units, effectively communicating IT-related matters to non-technical stakeholders.
Technology Roadmap: Keep abreast of new technologies and industry trends to guide the future direction of IT investments and initiatives.
Service Delivery: Ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services that meet the needs of end-users and support business operations.
Change Management: Manage the implementation of changes to IT systems and processes, minimizing disruption to the business.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve IT processes, services, and systems to enhance business performance.
IT Governance: Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks to ensure that IT decisions and investments are aligned with business objectives and deliver value.
Continuously monitor and improve the ITBM processes to ensure they remain relevant and effective.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have:

A bachelor’s degree (BE – B. Tech / MCA) and a minimum of 9-12 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of related work experience
Approximately 9+ years’ experience on large scale complex programs providing consulting services in at least one of the following areas: 

PMO/EPMO design/set up and delivery, program road-mapping design, resource/capacity management, program execution, PMO maturity assessment, PMO Setup & Operations
Transformation Office design/set up and delivery, Value/Benefit realization
End-to End Portfolio Management implementation – intake and demand management, portfolio prioritization, portfolio selection, financial management
End-to End ERP implementation

Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
Flexible to work in US and UK time zones
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Knowledge of Project Management tool such as MS Project/Clarity PPM/ Primavera/Smartsheet

 

Good to Have

MBA or relevant graduate degree is a plus
Understanding of Agile and Waterfall concepts
Business analysis skills
Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Jira, Azure DevOps (ADO)
Potential certifications include: PMP, Six Sigma, Scrum, Agile SAFe
Sector experience in areas such as Automotive, Advanced Manufacturing & Mobility, Banking, Consumer Products and Goods, Media and Entertainment, Life Sciences, and Consumer Products
Experience supporting and participating in pursuit efforts. Experience with the end-to-end RFP process (RFP, Response, Proposal, Client Presentation, SOW and Execution) and understanding of client procurement processes
