GIS  Analyst – Specialist – Global Managed Services

The opportunity

The GIS staff member will utilize geographic information system technology to create and manage spatial data. The role involves analyzing geospatial data and developing mapping applications to support decision-making processes within the company. The GIS staff will be part of a team that services large oil and gas and other organisations with mapping their assets using prescribed software / technology.

 

Your Responsibilities:

Effectively create maps and digitize polygons in a team effort to meet company and client needs
Collaborate with other GIS Mapping Specialists on multi-client, multi-state mapping projects
Utilize ESRI ArcGIS software to convert text-only legal descriptions, surveys, and plats into digitized polygons
Meet client-specific predetermined standards and project goals
Occasionally work with the Land Records department to separate and organize scanned documents based on clients’ standards
Produce high-quality cartographic products and reports for internal use and regulatory submissions.
Stay current with GIS technology advancements and industry best practices.
Train and support other staff members in the use of GIS tools and applications.

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

Preferred bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science or related field
3 to 4 years of experience of having done similar work in oil and gas industry with a focus on the North America market
Experience with ArcGIS software
Experience with database management and spatial analysis techniques.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Highly productive in a combination of in-office and work-from-home environments
Demonstrate problem-solving abilities—working independently and as a team player
Having above average Microsoft Word and Excel skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with non-GIS professionals.
Knowledge of the oil and gas industry, including exploration, production, and regulatory frameworks, is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with remote sensing, GPS technology, and data visualization tools.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
