The WorldWide (WW) Transportation Controllership team is a global organization within operations finance focusing on improving accuracy of payables and improving integrity of transportation cost reporting. The team covers 29 programs globally including first mile, middle mile and last mile. WW Transportation Controllership function is critical to the success of Amazon Stores rapid growth. Our mission is to safeguard Amazon assets and reputation by accurate and on time reporting and payment of transportation costs.

Amazon is seeking Director of Audit in the WW Transportation Controllership team to lead a 100+ member team that supports global programs to standardize, execute, and automate procure to pay process for transportation business. Based out of Hyderabad, India this role will lead a large team of managers in finance, program management and technology to ensure that our transportation carriers are paid the right amount, are paid on time and that our related financial statements are accurate. This role partners heavily with accounting and technology and is also responsible for driving our financial automation initiatives for our transportation business around the world.

This leader will be responsible for accurate and timely audit of all transportation costs, detect and eliminate all fraud, waste, and abuse, improve efficiency and effectiveness of Audit team by leveraging standardized and robust manual as well as automated audit processes, comprehensive risk management framework, operational excellence, and defect reduction mechanisms. The Audit leader is a think big leader who is not hesitant to challenge status quo and drive change. This individual will own the Audit 3-year vision to effectively manage risks, eliminate internal and external defects, and drive automation. This leader will demonstrate controllership mind-set, strong business judgment, and the capability to deal with multiple priorities. The Audit leader is innovative, results-driven professional with experience in leading high performing team and is known for hiring, developing and retaining talent. This position will work across businesses, and geographies to deliver on accuracy, automation, and productivity goals. This is a senior leadership role and incumbent is expected to effectively navigate and work in a matrix organization, influence people, negotiate timelines with stakeholders (as needed), and deliver results around the globe.

Key job responsibilities
• Own the 3-year vision including development and execution of roadmap
• Lead the team that is responsible for accurate and on-time audit and payment of all transportation costs and invoices with highest customer experience, quality and controllership
• Deliver on goals of reducing internal and external defects by partnering with business, finance and tech teams
• Drive standardization and automation of audit processes in partnership with tech teams
• Continuously inspect and improve risk assessment and mitigation mechanisms to avoid fraud, waste, and abuse
• Gain expertise in Amazon transportation businesses
• Establish relationship with business, finance and tech leaders
• Own the refinement and/or development of audit framework, playbooks, tools and templates
• Serve as change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization
• Elevate culture of Innovation and Continuous Improvement through best practice sharing, vocal, advocacy and visible hand-on leadership
• Develop and provide right metrics to measure function health
• Think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize tasks
• Drive consensus with technical and non-technical audiences

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Experience in risk management, accounting, and/or finance
• Knowledge of compliance requirements, SOX, and risk management frameworks
• Experience leading standardization and automation
• Track record of driving and delivering improvements such as defect reduction, process improvement
• Experience in designing and enforcing policies and processes that will protect and enhance the integrity of Amazon’s financial records and increase organizational efficiency
• Comfortable with details, enjoy turning data into clear, actionable insight. Track-record of influencing strategy, solving problems, and contributing to sound business and financial decisions in an ambiguous environment
• Experience leading a 100+ member team
• Ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize tasks
• Skilled at driving consensus with technical and non-technical audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Finance, Engineering or Accounting
• Prior experience in Audit function
• Knowledge of transportation business
• Articulate and able to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, from front-line associates to executives through white papers as well as verbal communication
• Demonstrated Change Management experience including the ability to work with improvement team sponsors to address barriers to a team’s success
