Job summary
The Business Research Analyst – II will be responsible for continuous improvement projects across the RBS teams leading to each of its delivery levers. The long-term goal of the Business Research Analyst Research Analyst – II role is to create and write the deterministic rules that will help identify Defects in the Private Brands catalog. Secondary goals are to improve the overall customer experience and to enhance GMS/ FCF. This will require collaboration with local and global teams, which have process and technical expertise. Therefore, Business Research Analyst – II should be a self-starter who is passionate about discovering and solving complicated problems, learning complex systems, working with numbers, and organizing and communicating data and reports. Business Research Analyst – II should works across team(s) and Ops organization at country, regional and/or cross regional level to drive improvements and enablers to implement solutions for customer, cost savings in process workflow, systems configuration and performance metrics. Leads projects and opportunities across the operations that are business critical, and may be global in nature. Business Research Analyst – II should perform big data analysis to identify the defects patterns/process gaps and come up with long term solutions to eliminate the defects/issues. Business Research Analyst – II should Writes clear and detailed functional specifications based on business requirements as well as writes and reviews business cases.

Key job responsibilities
• Establish an automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and implementation
• Build a scalable system that can algorithmically extract information from the product pages and then Intelligently cluster, segment and classify data to extract relevant information and structure them for analysis and model development
• Create experiments and prototype implementations for new learning algorithms and prediction techniques
• Research, design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative models and machine learning solutions to provide SMART solutions for complex business cases to enhance the overall customer experience
• Build systems that will use the existing Knowledge Base to perform open information extraction at scale from visually rich product pages
• Use machine learning best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all of the team deliverables which are;
a) Scalable (build models to handle large datasets)
b) Accurate (have high precision and recall),
c) Fast (generate predictions for millions of new or changed data with low latency)
d) Diversified (models need to work across different languages, market places and data sources)
• Use complex analytical techniques NLP and deep learning to create scalable solutions for complex business problems
• Working closely with software engineering teams to drive real-time model implementations and new feature creations
• Lead projects and mentor other scientist and analysts in the use of ML techniques

About the team
The RBS group in Chennai is an integral part of Amazon online product lifecycle and buying operations. The team is designed to ensure Amazon remains competitive in the online retail space with the best price, wide selection and good product information. The team’s primary role is to create and enhance retail selection on the worldwide Amazon online catalog. The tasks handled by this group have a direct impact on customer buying decisions and online user experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years relevant experience in financial/business analysis
Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
Experience with SQL
Experience in Excel

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Python, R, TensorFlow Perl, Scala or other similar languages
• Proficiency in Model development, validation and implementation for large-scale applications
• Experience of building ML and NLP models using Deep Learning frameworks in Python
• Strong publication record at top conferences and journals
• Ability to work on ambiguous problem areas and deliver business critical solutions.
• Strong communication and data presentation skills
• Ability to convey mathematical results to non-science stakeholders Strength in clarifying and formalizing complex problems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
• 5+ years of industry experience in predictive modeling and analysis
• Expert in SQL, Strong skills with Spark/Python/Perl (or similar) and Machine Learning (breadth and depth)
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, problem-solving, algorithm design and complexity analysis
• Familiar with AWS platforms (Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, Redshift, RDS, CloudWatch and Sage maker)
• Experience with defining organizational research and development practices in an industry setting
• Significant contributions in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
• Proven track record of strong attention to detail to dive deep into data to discover hidden patterns and conducting error/deviation analysis
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment with the ability to think creatively to solve complex and ambiguous business problems
• Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills, ability to convey rigorous mathematical concepts and considerations to non-experts
• Improve and accelerate our technology with science, statistical modeling, algorithm design, and prototyping
• Maintain an understanding of industry and technology trends in said area of research.
• Contribute to Amazon’s Intellectual Property through patents and/or external publications.
• Proven track record in technically leading and mentoring scientists, analysts as well as engineers.
