Job summary
The Amazon Books Operations Team is looking for a bright, enthusiastic, and analytical candidate with a strong ability to solve problems and simplify processes.
The Senior Inventory Specialist position offers a dynamic introduction to our online retail business and a training ground for future success focused on vendor relationships, operations, and supply chain management. The Inventory Specialist will work directly with strategic vendors to help improve their success at Amazon by building and nurturing an operational partnership. The Inventory Specialist will help create an engaging experience for our vendor partners by developing direct communication, sharing data and analysis, and driving issue resolution in a timely manner. The Inventory Specialist candidate will have the opportunity to identify improvements in our vendors’ supply chains, invent solutions for improvement and pro-actively identify potential issues before they surface.

Responsibilities
The Senior Inventory Specialist role will be responsible for the following:

Developing and updating reporting focused on key operational performance indicators.
Driving regular calls with vendor sales and operations teams to talk through metrics, issues, and solutions.
Maintaining relationships with key vendor stakeholders to facilitate operational improvement through partnership.
Root causing and resolving operational exceptions such as out of stock products, missing site offers, supply chain disruptions, etc.
Acting as the operational owner for strategic vendors, coordinating with Instock and VMs Managers to surface issues and communicate timelines.
Working hours would be 8am PST to 5pm PST.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent with data analytics and related tools.
Excellent verbal presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills Experience optimizing processes for efficiency and reliability.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Process oriented thinker, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot inefficient, unreliable processes.
Proven track record of strong judgement and good instincts, with the ability to respectfully challenge assumptions and disagree when appropriate.
Delivers on multiple deadlines and priorities compulsively as a self-directed individual, comfortable with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Bachelor’s degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree
Strong work or educational background in data analysis and creative problem solving.
Strong intuition for problem solving; ability to handle ambiguity.
Strong Excel knowledge, and ability to learn Amazon’s in-house technology tools quickly.
Familiarity with SQL, or enthusiasm to learn.
Experience owning a project from beginning to end, particularly in cross-functional settings.
