EY- Assurance – Senior – FAAS – Technical Accounting Advisory Group
As part of our EY-Assurance Team, the Senior will be responsible for working closely with FAAS assistant managers, managers, Senior Managers and leadership on client engagements across Americas and EMEIA.

Our FAAS team is growing exponentially, and as a Senior in our Technical Accounting Advisory Group (TAAG) group, you will play a key role in that growth. Working across all industries, you’ll develop your career by communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally.
As part of our Technical Accounting Advisory Group, you will help clients manage the complex financial and accounting issues relating to consolidation and joint ventures, IPOs, business combinations, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, derivatives and hedging, debt vs. equity, SEC reporting, leases, and much more. This is a truly unique opportunity to learn technical accounting at a faster rate and deeper level.
We’re looking for incumbents who can be competent to manage a portfolio of clients and be responsible for the timeliness and quality of the work as per EY Global Standards for our FAAS team. The role requires prior work experience on different accounting topics along with good communication skills. This is a highly visible role allowing you to work with a broad set of projects.
Your key responsibilities
Execute the following as part of the Technical Accounting team using Global service delivery framework:
Accounting advice and transactional support and memo writing for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, investments, structured finance, debt and equity offerings, leasing, and derivatives
Support in research and interpretation of changing standards in both U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and support on meeting the new requirements
Technical research, including analyses of guidance from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), SEC and International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), and actions taken by fillings available in public domain
Accounting policy and governance
Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of fieldwork, informing Supervisors of engagement status
Follow through on client requests in a timely fashion, and manage expectations regarding the timing of
deliverables and reports
Identify engagement and client service issues. Research and benchmark client data to industry data.
Explain the client’s critical success factors to the engagement team.
Benchmark client data to industry data in order to make possible recommendations for improvements
Apply independent and objective professional judgment in applying accounting standards to meet
engagement expectations, including regulatory requirements.
Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts; stay informed of professional standards and firm policies (e.g., guidelines of the EY FAAS Policy Manual); and effectively apply this knowledge to moderately difficult and/or complex client situations
Receive direction from the Manager, Senior Manager and Partner
Skills and attributes for success
Good understanding of IND AS / IFRS / US, UK or IGAAP
Working experience in relation to the following services/solutions (at least three):
Technical accounting research and memo writing
Transaction accounting and reporting – IPO’s, Carve Outs, PPA etc
GAAP conversions and implementation of new accounting standards
Drafting and designing accounting policies
Consolidation and compilation support
Financial statement close process support
Benchmarking services and market analysis
Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies
An understanding of marketplace, as well as commonly used terminology, processes and tools
To qualify for the role, you must have
Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US) or ACCA (UK)
2-5 years (post qualification) in relevant experience including at least one year of experience in Financial Accounting and Advisory
Strong technical writing and presentation skills
Exposure to or interest in complex technical accounting topics is a plus
Candidates with prior Big4 experience would be an added advantage
Ideally, you’ll also have
Proficiency in MS – Excel, MS – Office.
Interest in business and commerciality.
Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary
