EY Business Consulting – Supply Chain and Operations – Procurement – Senior Consultant
Our objective is to help clients improve the performance and productivity of their Supply Chain & Operations (SC&O). With expertise in leading SC&O proprietary frameworks, you will assist clients in enhancing the reliability, flexibility, and responsiveness of their procurement function while reducing optimizing spend. Typical roles include developing operating models, conducting spend analysis, re-designing/re-engineering procurement processes, performing process assessments and reviews, developing tools, and contributing to thought leadership.
Our client base spans various industries, including multinational companies in oil & gas, power & utilities, consumer goods & retail, healthcare, real estate & construction, etc.
The opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Consultant with expertise in Procurement to join our Business Consulting Team. You will work with business clients and project teams to support client engagements in SC&O and build a strong pipeline by developing technical proposals in collaboration with MENA stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities
As a Senior Consultant, you will be part of a team with extensive Supply Chain consulting and industry experience. Your role will include supporting client engagements related to Procurement consulting. Drawing on your knowledge and functional acumen, you will create innovative insights for clients, suggest methods and practices to develop Target Operating Model; optimize Source to Contract (S2C)/ Procure to Pay (P2P) processes; conduct spend analysis; implement category management, supplier relationship management (SRM) and catalogue management thus improving overall procurement operations. You are also expected to attend stakeholder meetings and support/build winning technical proposals in response to Tenders and/or Requests for Proposal (RFPs) from business clients.
An important part of your role will be to actively perform research, establish, maintain, and strengthen internal and external relationships. This job responsibility will require you to travel and be on client sites in the MENA region, particularly the Middle East.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with business stakeholders on Procurement consulting projects related to target operating model, performance improvement and procurement operations – transformation/optimization/re-engineering, etc., and translate client needs and priorities into sustainable solutions
Understand client’s business objectives, procurement challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement/optimization/cost reduction
Develop implementation roadmaps aligned with client’s business needs and industry best practices
Support procurement transformation initiatives, including process redesign and techno-functional consulting support
Provide data-driven insights using advanced analytics and business intelligence tools to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement in procurement operations
Ensure consistency in delivering high-quality work products, exceeding client expectations, and meeting delivery timelines
Work closely with key stakeholders to design, and develop winning technical proposals in response to tenders or RFPs from business clients
Build, maintain, and strengthen working relationships with business stakeholders at appropriate levels and clients
Continually enhance your technical and consulting skills in procurement, thereby contributing to the development of your own and the team’s technical acumen
Liaise with internal teams and field of play teams to help identify opportunities in SC&O and actively contribute to business development activities
Develop and groom team members for succession planning, as needed
Skills and attributes for success
Good understanding of the procurement chain process, including sourcing, purchasing, contract lifecycle management, supplier management, and catalogue management. Knowledge of warehouse, inventory management, and logistics is an added advantage
Knowledge of S2C, P2P, Category Management and SRM frameworks
Strong ability to research and write technical proposal content in MS PowerPoint
Business process re-engineering and optimization experience in diverse industries like Oil & Gas, B2B, Real Estate & Construction, Healthcare, Consumer Goods & Retail, Manufacturing will be valuable for the role
Keen understanding of any ERP applications in the domain area
Ability to translate technical requirements into effective procurement solutions
Participation in procurement transformation projects will be beneficial for the role
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with all stakeholders
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
To qualify for the role, you must have
4-7 years of work experience in Procurement with expertise in pre-sales operations and consulting
Strong knowledge of procurement operating model design, organization restructuring, feasibility study, operational efficiency improvement, process transformation, re-engineering, optimization, and analytics (supplier segmentation, spend analytics, benchmarking)
Exposure to ERP systems and tools like SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, Icertis, etc.
Additional experience in Procurement/Supplier/3rd party audits
BE/B-Tech/MBA/higher degrees in operations
Exposure to writing technical proposals in response to RFP/Tender
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Aris, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.
Willingness to travel to the Middle East and work on a Sunday to Thursday working week and support MENA timings (11 AM – 8:30 PM), as preferred (supporting Middle East Clients)
Ideally, you’ll also have
Project management skills
CIPS, ASCM, CPP certification will be an added/preferred advantage
Customer handling, Stakeholder management, Report writing, Strong interpersonal communication skills, and experience in the usage of analytical tools/representations
Insights into the latest trends of procurement, including leading practices, sustainability, digitalization, and the use of AI to predict and respond to market changes
