The LUW Database Administrator will be responsible for installation, setup and modifications to LUW databases. The person will also work on other engineering activity depending on skillset.
Install, configure, and maintain Linux, Unix, and Windows (LUW) database systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
Apply in-depth knowledge of z/OS operating systems to manage and support mainframe databases, ensuring seamless integration and operation with LUW environments.
Perform database tuning, monitoring, and optimization to ensure efficient operation and response times.
Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption, to protect sensitive information.
Conduct regular backups and disaster recovery operations to ensure data preservation and continuity.
Collaborate with application development teams to advise on database design, query optimization, and best practices.
Stay abreast of the latest database technologies and trends, especially related to LUW and z/OS environments, to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Provide 24/7 on-call support as needed to address critical database issues and ensure system availability.
Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for internal use and compliance purposes.

Roles & Responsibilities:

At least 5 years of experience as a DBA, with a strong background in managing LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) database environments.
Proven experience with z/OS database administration, including knowledge of mainframe technologies and integration with LUW platforms.
Expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Familiarity with database security practices and disaster recovery techniques.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one major database management system (e.g., IBM Db2, Oracle, SQL Server).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Certifications in database administration, Linux/Unix administration, or related areas are a plus.
Knowledge of XML files a plus
Webservices Knowledge a plus
Java knowledge is a plus
Python Knowledge is a plus
Linux/zLinux knowledge is a plus

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
