DESCRIPTION
Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a smart and talented lawyer to support our product compliance, restricted products and compliance operations teams in India.
In this role, you will need to monitor, research, interpret product and trade regulations in India and develop and implement related compliance actions. You will also need to conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential product compliance issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks effectively. This position requires in-depth legal research into a variety of complex regulations and advising legal and business teams on your findings and proposed actions. Once a decision is reached, you will help implement processes and policies to effectuate the decision. This will involve providing written legal guidance.
You must have strong prior work experience in a professional setting, a cooperative attitude, and excellent organizational skills. The ability to effectively communicate is essential, both verbally and in writing. The role will require that you be self-motivated to learn and understand Amazon’s operations and to identify and analyze relevant laws and regulations. The role will be a part of Amazon’s legal team and involve both independent and team work in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing. You will need great judgment in ambiguous situations, practical risk calibration, and a desire to learn and be curious.
In this role, you will deal with a broad range product compliance laws. You will work independently with various global, operational, business, and programming teams, serving as the legal point of contact for development and launch of key compliance related solutions for Amazon.in website. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day legal support, resolving product compliance issues and close loop with internal and external stakeholders on product compliance matters.
This role will report into Sr. Corporate Counsel. In this role, you will work closely with global legal teams and external counsels.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– LLB in India or equivalent law degree in other common law jurisdiction.
– 8-10 years of post-qualification experience in law firm or in-house role.
– Experience in dealing with broad range of product compliance laws and regulations and manufacturing standards.
– Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– A mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience in India is a plus
– Experience in advising multi-national companies and businesses operating at scale
– Excellent organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, smartly prioritize and meet stringent deadlines
– Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing product`, safety, labeling, advertising, and environmental compliance
– Experience of handling tool-based compliances.
– Strong analytical and computer skills
