DESCRIPTION
Selling on Amazon is one of Amazon’s fastest growing businesses. Since third-party sellers joined Amazon in 1999, they’ve grown to account for 58% of Amazon sales and are growing at 52% a year (compared to 25% for first-party sales by Amazon). Selling Partner Financial Technology team’s vision is to enable every Selling Partner to thrive and grow into a global selling success through providing a financial experience with unparalleled trust which delights all Selling Partners regardless of how they interact with Amazon. We achieve this by providing foundational capabilities for financial event on boarding, balance tracking, payouts, collections, and internal financial reporting. We currently support Payouts to 2.7MM+ active Sellers across 65+ Amazon internal businesses. The role will be responsible for leading three software development teams with distinct charters.
We’re looking for a senior technical leader who’s motivated by software development. Amazon teams run like businesses giving you the control to run things the way you see fit, allowing you as a manager to be responsible for your team top to bottom. A senior technical leader for this role is known for hiring, developing, and retaining the best talent – creating durable organizations that celebrate diverse points of view and experiences. You need to operate at both strategic and tactical levels – create and drive a vision across multiple software development teams, lead managers, while still being able to dive deep enough to help a software engineer reason through the cause of a memory leak. You need to be an innovator, an influencer, and a problem solver – demonstrating solid technical judgment, effectively able to communicate, and leading a fast-paced organization to deliver results with a focused yet pragmatic approach to your business.
Key job responsibilities
As part of the leadership team, you will lead the development teams building key Payouts and Collections strategies used by Amazon worldwide and will regularly interact with executive leadership. You will work with the business teams to define roadmaps, drive execution of technology projects, drive operational excellence initiatives, and manage technology operations.
1. Drive strategic planning and project execution, recruit, hire, and develop the industry’s top engineering talent.
2. Build your teams to independently innovate and deliver results, while verifying completion/quality.
3. Own the inputs and the business outcome through cultivating a culture of relentless auditing and metric monitoring, automatically where possible.
4. Balance technical leadership, investment and strong business judgement to make the right decisions about technology choices.
5. Lead or contribute to multiple simultaneous product development efforts and initiatives.
6. Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
