DESCRIPTION
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
AWS has the most services and more features within those services, than any other cloud provider–from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases–to emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and analytics, and Internet of Things.
Whether its Identity features such as access management and sign on, cryptography, console, builder & developer tools, and even projects like automating all of our contractual billing systems, AWS Platform is always innovating with the customer in mind.

AWS Commerce Platform International Expansion is looking for a Senior SDE to lead the design and delivery of key business initiatives in strategic International markets. The work impacts AWS as a platform and accelerates how we expand AWS globally. AWS is growing rapidly in international markets and we are investing in international expansion as a key strategic area. As a senior SDE on this team, you will own scoping, designing delivering software projects and services with significant complexity or broad cross-organizational impact, you will be able to propose and drive innovation that is scalable and supports a wide range of services to the magnitude of hundreds. You will also have the chance to work with cross functional stakeholders across from product engineering, Finance, Legal and Tax beyond building engineering solutions. From a technical perspective, you need to feel comfortable with design concepts. You will contribute to large scale architectural designs specific to a technical domain in the platform. You should be comfortable diving deep and understand the mechanism of multiple complex systems. You will work with program managers to define Product experience, work with engineering leaders and engineers to design and build secure, durable and scalable services. You are also expected to have a degree of program management skills. You will be working across organization with teams located in several countries. You will own the definition and delivery of the program, including keeping stakeholders informed with status, holding teams accountable to their deliverables, identifying and resolving blocking issues to ensure the delivery. From people perspective you will coach and mentor other devs, you will also have the opportunity to participate in hiring and recruiting. As a Sr SDE your influence and contribution will likely be expected on other programs beyond your own. This is an exciting role with a high degree of impact and also a high degree of ambiguity. You will have the opportunity to work with senior executives in AWS and your work will benefit a boundless set of customers all around the world.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
– 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
